The National Aquatic Centre was established by the Government of Ireland to be the Premier Venue for Competitive Swimming, Diving and Water Polo in Ireland, a National Facility for the training of our high performance swimmers, a host venue for International, National and Provincial competitions, actively promoting and developing Swimming Participation at all levels and a public facility for promoting Health and Fitness.The National Aquatic Centre is under the remit of the National Sports Campus Development Authority and is operated by a wholly owned subsidiary of the NSCDA.In 2011 over 825,000 people used the facilities of the Centre. It is Ireland's 3rd most popular fee paying attraction. It houses Irelands biggest individual Swimming Lessons programme (over 2,300 participants weekly), has over 5,400 Members and has won numerous major Awards over the last 3 years.In 2012 it is hosing numerous London Olympic squads including USA Synchronized Swimming, Water Polo Olympics Champions, Hungary, Water Polo Olympic Hosts, Great Britain, as well as Germany, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro in Water Polo. The Irish Olympic swimming squad and a number of small nations from South America will host a camp in advance of the London games.The Centre was officially opened on Monday, 10 March, 2003.
