The National Association of Young Black Elected Officials (NAYBEO) was organized in 2010 to promote and cultivate the advancement of young African Americans across all government offices in the US. Daron R. Sellars, co-founder and CEO of this Washington DC based organization, had the vision to realize that a non-partisan group of young, Black Americans elected officials would benefit both major parties in the United States, as well as members of the black community. In its short time –span, NAYBEO has been successful in recruiting over 400 members and is continuing to grow. NAYBEO will be a voice for our communities, and these communities will hold its members accountable. The organization already has a diverse membership, consisting of mayors, state legislatures, senators, council members, judges, commissioners, and board of education members. " This organization will be the premier organization to help recruit and retain young black voters nationally by allowing them to engage in meaningful conversations with their elected peers and keeping them engaged with updates in current political news," said Georgia State Representative and co-founder and Chairman J Craig Gordon.
