National Black Speech Language and Hearing Association is a nonprofit organization aimed at empowering professionals within the field of Speech Therapy and Audiology. It is also a vehicle for the mentoring program for students at the different educational institutions. To achieve this goal the association has formed partnerships with Universities. The goal of the association is to foster a commitment with the professionals that will promote the accessibility and availability of services to the previously disadvantaged communities, empower black professionals within both public and private sector, and raise awareness about the profession within black communities. Only through personal mentorship and empowerment can a sense of individual responsibility be established. That will give professionals the capacity to provide high quality service and empower communities at large by preventing and alleviating the effects of speech and hearing disorders within black communities.
