National Ferries Company first launched its services in 2008 following orders in 2006 to build 5 ferries to provide services for Omani citizen and residence linking the coastal areas of the Sultanate by sea.\\The company is owned by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman through Ministry of Finance. NFC is managed by a high profile Board of Directors.\ \Eight -year-old NFC has already earned international accolades for the high standards of its passenger ferry service. At the Interferry annual summit held in New York November 2010, the global grouping of international ferry operators and service providers applauded NFC on its success in running the world's fastest commercial ferry service linking its key destinations in Oman.
