The National Hispanic Life Sciences Society (NHLSS) is a national, independent, non-profit professional membership organization for Hispanics, Latinos, Hispanic/Latino-Americans, and their supporters in the global life sciences industry. Vision: To be the world's leading advocate, voice, and core connector for Hispanic-Americans and Latinos in the global life sciences industries, including the biomedical, biotechnology, medical device, information technology, nanotechnology, and pharmaceutical sectors.Mission: To promote deeper and broader professional contact, communication, and resource exchange among Latinos in the global life sciences industry ecosystem, including executives, entrepreneurs, investors, IT experts, academics, physicians, researchers, scientists, policy makers, and service professionals.The leadership team includes executives from Abbott, AstraZeneca, Broad Institute, Dell Corporation, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Johnson & Johnson, Life Beyond Cancer Foundation, Monarch Health Care, Securities & Exchange Commission, and Shire HGT.Projects include:1) "Diversity, Inclusion, & the Life Sciences Industry" symposium on April 22, 2013 in Chicago, IL. 2) "Hispanics & Personalized Medicine: Understanding the Intersection of Genes, Culture, and Healthcare" white paper by Jose Calderon, MD, Anita Goel, MD, PhD, and James Gillespie, PhD, JD.
