National LambdaRail (NLR) was an ultra-high performance, 12,000-mile network infrastructure that made possible many of the world’s most demanding research projects. Originally owned by the U.S. research and education community and later by Nantworks, NLR was the innovation platform for a wide range of academic disciplines and public-private partnerships. NLR offered unrestricted usage and bandwidth, a choice of cutting-edge network services and applications, and customized service for individual researchers and projects. NLR was turned down in early 2014.
