Established in 1998, the National Organization for Renal Disease (NORD) is a nonprofit, licensed health agency and corporation dedicated to providing critical and preventive medical, educational, health screenings and research information to underinsured, under-served multicultural adults at high risk of developing renal (kidney) disease and its precursors. Founded by Mamie Jackson, who has lived with and studied chronic disease for the past several decades, NORD continues its mission to transform the therapies and delivery systems used to treat renal disease and its causes: diabetes and hypertension.
