The National School Art Collective's mission is to support the development of student curated and student owned professional art collections in schools in every state in America. Each collection exposes students to art every day and also helps enrich curriculum in areas such as language arts, social studies, etc. We will provide initial funding, expertise, and support to each school that we work with and will continue to help them year after year. We will help each school create their own "Art Collective" and "Student Committee" that help support each school's art collection. The School Art Collectives will help bring the students, faculty, and greater school communities together by developing the collection, possible fundraiser events, relationships with local and statewide artists, art organizations, universities and colleges, and forge closer ties with the local business community. How it works...Each year artists within the same state of the participating school are asked to submit one piece of art to be considered for acquisition by the school. A student art collective committee culls the submissions to a selected number of pieces that will be voted on by the entire student body. The artworks are shown and the students vote. The students then use funds raised to purchase as many of the top choices as possible. The School Art Collectives raise funds throughout the year to help pay for the framing, display and conservation of these pieces. The collections are an available resource for the students, faculties and greater school communities. They expose students to art throughout each day and becomes a strong influence on the culture of the schools.
