Since its founding in 1980, the The Native Forest Restoration Trust has acquired land to promote the regeneration of forests, protect important species and restore their habitats and to improve the quality of our waterways. It has acquired and protected well over 7,000 hectares of native forest and wetlands creating reserves throughout the North and South Islands.As one of the largest private landowners in the country with a track record of acquiring, protecting and restoring land of high biodiversity value, NFRT is in a unique position to promote community responsibility for conservation, to forge partnerships with other organisations and individuals working in restoration activities and to continue to lead by example.
