Inspiring wonder in the natural world, from the Tees to the Tweed, since 1829. We are the Natural History Society of Northumbria (NHSN) and, for almost 200 years have provided a home for naturalists in North East England. Together with our passionate members and dedicated volunteers, we work to study, record and celebrate North East nature by:- Managing #GosforthNatureReserve, the North East's oldest nature reserve, as a site of study and enjoyment for people across the region. - Encouraging learning through a busy programme of events, adult education courses, publications and outreach with schools and charities. - Promoting the social and cultural heritage of natural history though our archive, library, and museum collections, located at the Great North Museum: Hancock. - Working in partnership to study and record wildlife through citizen science.
