Nature's Bounty Farm is a non profit organization whose mission is to aid in providing food security for winter months of November thru February, increase skills in basic cooking and food preservation and enhance knowledge of nutrition in reference to health and wellness. During the Spring, Summer and Fall months Farms markets are opening, growing season is underway and nutritional foods are readily available, however during the winter months it can be difficult to provide hot nutritional meals for individuals or families. It is our hopes here at the farm to provide dehydrated meal packs made from produce and lean meats grown and raised here on the farm to those in need. The educational seminars which features basic cooking and food preservation classes will give skills necessary to cook basic nutritional meals and allow for participants to gain skills in food preservation so as to increase food security by using the fresh produce that is available during the growing season and take advantage of sales to preserve nutritional foods to increase their winter food security in the future years. By teaching basic gardening skills this will allow for participants to grow their own produce and with the added skills of cooking and preserving the participants will be able to save on the cost of food while increasing food security. With increased skills the participants will also receive a crock pot which is an easy and convenient way to prepare home cooked nutritional meals and is a safer way for elderly to prepare those same meals. Increasing knowledge of what nutrition is and why our bodies need nutritional foods to increase health and wellness will aid in the participants health and wellness.
