Nonprofit Organization Management - Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya
Nawiri Sisters Foundation aims to fight shame and restore dignity to adolescent girls through mentorship and provision of sanitary towels. The initiative is implemented through the Hadhi (dignity) Triangle, a concept that brings together adolescent girls in institutions and pairs them with a youth mentor (university students) from the region and stakeholders (teachers, parents, partners, donors and the community). The collaboration between these partners is critical in holistically addressing period stigma among adolescent girls by creating awareness, providing information and establishing a counter-narrative to that of taboos, myths and stigma around menstruation while providing menstrual hygiene materials. The Foundation has so far been able to directly reach over 1500 adolescent girls from Nairobi, Kajiado and Bomet County, all in Kenya.
