Nazareth Mutual began when a group of Northampton County farmers interested in insuring their homesteads and barns formed Farmers Mutual Fire Company. The group eventually expanded to other homeowners and small businesses. Nazareth, Pennsylvania is currently the home of the Andretti racing family and Martin Guitar. Nazareth is roughly 70 miles outside of Philadelphia. On March, 23, 1846, a Bethlehem township farmer purchased and was issued the first policy for $3.30. Farmers Mutual, Nazareth Mutual Fire Insurance Company formerly Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Company and Citizens Mutual Fire Insurance Company incorporated in 1880. In 1957, all three merged to form Nazareth Mutual Insurance Company. As a Mutual Company, our Policyholders have voting rights and we do not pay stockholder dividends.
