NE1fm was the first full-time community radio station for Newcastle & Gateshead.The station, which had over 100 active volunteers and broadcasted 24/7 on 102.5fm across the North East and online at www.ne1fm.net, launched at 8am on June 8th 2007 and worked with thousands of members of the local community.NE1fm 102.5 was owned and operated by Community Broadcast Initiative Tyneside Ltd, their aim was to encourage and/or facilitate the development, production and broadcast of community radio, which promoted community learning, cohesion, regeneration, celebration and empowerment.
