Neighbors' Development Network(NDN), is a non-profit community organization based on the near west side of Chicago that is committed to making our neighborhood a vibrant, safe and healthy place for all residents to live. By bringing together our community which includes all races and incomes, NDN strives to create a neighborhood that will serve to give children and adults an environment in which the residents bond together to make the near west side a great place to live. NDN started a Summer Running Program for low income kids on the near west side of Chicago that trains kids run 5k races. We also focus on healthy eating and getting our kids to start making healthy eating choices and incorporate fruits and vegetables into their diet. NDN also started a Winter Tutoring and Sports Program where we work with students on improving their reading and math comprehension while exposing them to non traditional sports such as rugby, lacrosse and hockey. NDN started 2 community gardens in our neighborhood. The Westhaven Community Garden is an organic vegetable garden where residents can help grow and take home food from the garden. We also started the Jelly Bean Garden, a beautiful flower garden that stands as a beautiful green space in our community.
