NEL.Academy, or NELA for short, is a young start-up company based in Cologne that offers online language courses in English, Business English and Spanish (for German speakers) as well as German (for English speakers) - for private individuals and companies. For this purpose, we have developed a language learning app that connects the student with a native-speaking NELA teacher.The interaction and short daily language training with the teacher in the NELA app work similarly to WhatsApp and complement the regular live lessons via Zoom. For this purpose, we created a course programme that does not demand rigid cramming and memorization but is oriented towards the intuitive way the brain works. The course programme is also based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Each level can be completed in four months, depending on the student's learning speed. Depending on previous knowledge, students can start at different levels and test their online language course free of charge at first. Afterwards, they can choose their learning speed via three different subscription options. Each student is taught privately, not in groups, both in the app and in live lessons. Not a day goes by without the student using and applying the new language for at least a few minutes and getting feedback from their teacher. After a short time, many of our students already feel like they are no longer chatting and talking with a stranger, but more like with a good friend. This increases their self-confidence and motivates them to continue learning. Success and fun are guaranteed.
