The flower company Nes Ammim Floriculture Ltd. consisted of 25.000 square meters of (Dutch) glasshouses and several "dunam" of outdoor grown flowers. The company known by insiders as "FC" has determined the face of Nes Ammim for many decades. All this time the Nes Ammim roses found their way from Israel to auctions in the Netherlands. The name Nes Ammim is inseparably linked with "roses".It's good to share the history of FC, where a lot of people were working, toiled, learned and laughed recent decades, shortly lived. They carry precious memories to remember and share.In the sixties of the last century floriculture in Israel began. Gladiolus first and then roses. Roses were initially grown mainly in Kibutziem and Moshaviem shitoefi. Five principles formed the basis for this development: low labor costs makes it a good competitive position compared to the Dutch growers, obtaining currency, the ability of women to be employed in part-time, favorable climate, increasing mechanization in agriculture as resulting in less need for labor and finally realizing efficiencies of water. Thus, subsidized by the Israeli government, the first 3,000 m2 Dutch greenhouses set. .......Unfortunately, the project was ended, have thus been anything but vain efforts. FC has been to the end the figurehead of Nes Ammim and has offered employment to a significant part of the village. Partly due to the existence of the company and the hard work of her many collaborators and supporters has Nes Ammim flourish for years. Not only in financial terms but certainly because many young people could gain from Israel, its people and its history, knowledge and experience.
