nettle+fin creates inimitable designs inspired by the common, often overlooked components of our natural environment. A groundbreaking merger of science and décor, nettle+fin's designs are conceived in nature- in the ocean depths, on a coral reef, in a tropical rainforest- and transported to the design studio through a microscope or camera lens. Each unique design bears the latin name of the specimen that inspired it, and can be traced back to a specific collector, working in an exact geographic location, on a particular date. In its debut textile line, now available to the trade exclusively at Holly Hunt in Washington, DC, nettle+fin trains its lenses on the visible and cryptic sea plants of the tropical oceans and seas. The initial designs range from an oversized reproduction of a familiar beach-dweller, to a microscopic perspective of a diminutive, rarely seen reef plant. The designs are available in multiple colorways on 100% eco-linen, 45/55 cotton/linen blend and 100% cotton and are printed in the United States.
