NEURAM Foundation Details
NEURAM was set up in 2017 as a not-for-profit Foundation to act as a vehicle for raising awareness on areas, related to neurological disabilities and for improving neurological rehabilitation care. Studies carried out by Prof Anba Soopramanien and his team from 2008 to 2012 revealed that there was an issue in Mauritius concerning the management of people with neurological disabilities ( Stroke, Brain injury and Spinal Cord injury).Among the problems highlighted are pressure ulcers (sores) and lifting of patients. Whilst the focus is on neurological diseases, the same principles of management apply to the elderly, who are bound to become an important target group as the population ages.
