The Mission of the New Canaan Land Trust is to preserve and protect open space in New Canaan. Working to protect natural places around town and preserve the rural character of New Canaan, the land trust aims to conserve land through acquisitions and conservation easements. These properties are protected in their "wild and natural state" in perpetuity.The New Canaan Land Trust currently owns or has conservation easements on close to 400 acres of land around the town of New Canaan. Divided across many different parcels, these properties comprise meadow, wetland, and forest ecosystems, all of which provide important habitat for local flora and fauna. All of the properties are open for the public to enjoy.
