Founded in the 1980s and officially recognized as a chapter of the Society of Professionals in Dispute Resolution (SPIDR) in 1992, SPIDR later merged with two other organizations to become the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).The New England Association for Conflict Resolution (NE-ACR) connects and supports conflict resolution practitioners and scholars in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont and has provided accessible education and networking opportunities to newcomers and experienced practitioners for over 25 years. NEACR's mission serves a diverse audience that includes more than 500 individuals and professionals involved in the field of conflict resolution and collaborative decision making throughout the region. Our community here in New England shares a mutual commitment to constructive conflict resolution, promoting best practices and increasing the public's understanding and awareness of our work. NE-ACR's members, who include mediators, arbitrators, collaborative professionals, lawyers, educators, students, and researchers, make up a lively, supportive professional community of people who share a strong commitment to promoting constructive conflict resolution and helping others in the field.
