IntroductionPowered by three research Universities, two National Laboratories, one military laboratory and hundreds of technology-based companies, New Mexico has long been a leader in advanced technology research and development. Optics, microelectronics, biotechnology and information technology clusters all combine to enable a vibrant high-technology sector. New Mexico's leading-edge, optical technology strengths include: manufacturing processes, control systems, directed energy, telescopes, communications, imaging, medical instruments, drug discovery processes, and many other new and emerging sciences and technologies. Member ProfileThe New Mexico Optics Industry Association serves a broad range of technology companies and organizations that provide products, R&D, education, and services to customers around the world. Some of the fields in which our members have considerable expertise are: adaptive optics, detectors, displays, holographic systems, lasers, imaging, instrumentation, microscopes, optical components and systems, coatings, polishing, precision measuring and positioning, sensors, software, telescopes, testing and training.
