Co-founded by Milica Zec and Winslow Porter, New Reality Co. is a creative studio dedicated to synthesizing storytelling, art and technology into groundbreaking and emotional projects. In 2018 New Reality Company was awarded two Telly Gold Awards, the Hot Docs DocX Audience Award, a Lumiere Award for Best VR Location Based Short and the Webby People's Voice Award for Best VR: Interactive, Game or Real-Time for their project Tree. New Reality utilizes virtual, augmented, mixed and actual reality to tap into positive social change and explore the human experience, with a goal to invigorate viewers whether in a large-scale experiential installation or an intimate at-home viewing. For two years, New Reality was a member of NEW INC, the New Museum's design incubator program. Milica and Winslow are Robert Rauschenberg Fellows, alumni of the Sundance New Frontier Lab, and have been named Artists-in-Residence at R/GA, Technicolor Experience Center, creative agency Droga5 and A/D/O, a creative space in Brooklyn exploring boundaries in design. Together they were named to Adweek's Top 100 Creatives as Digital Innovators. At the 2016 Sundance New Frontier festival, New Reality premiered "Giant," a VR film portraying an American family in an active war zone. "Giant" is one of the first VR projects to combine semi-volumetric live action video with game engine software. "Tree," an experiential piece in which the viewer takes on the body of a growing tree, premiered at 2017 Sundance New Frontier and continued its run at Tribeca Film Festival's Virtual Arcade, TED2017, Hot Docs Toronto, Phi Centre Montreal, NAB Show Vegas and CPH:DOX Copenhagen. "Tree" was also written up in numerous articles globally, including a recommendation from the New York Times as a must-see experience at Sundance. Following Giant and Tree, the socially connected experience "Breathe" represents the final leg of New Reality's VR trilogy and is now in pre-production.
