2019 Tournament Information:The 2020 NY Open Judo Championship will take place on Saturday March 21, 2020 at The New York Athletic Club - 180 Central Park South, New York, NY, 10019. More information about the event can be found at www.nyopenjudo.comTeams: TBD About us:The first annual NYAC Judo Tournament was born thirty-years ago, and has since become the most competitive international competition held in North America. Competitors from over 20 countries, including Olympic and World Champions, regularly travel to New York to compete, and not always winning. Past participants have included:• Team USA including Jimmy Pedro (World Champion 1998), Jason Morris (Olympic Silver Medal 1992)• Team Korea coached by judo legend Ki-Young Jeon – World Champion (1993, 1995, 1997)• Team Brazil including Flavio Canto – Olympic Bronze Medalist (2004)• Team Canada coached by judo legend Nicolas Gill – Olympic Silver Medalist (2000) • Team Uzbekistan including player Armen Bagdasarov - Olympic Silver Medalist (1996) • Team Germany including Ole Bischof - Olympic Gold Medalist (2012) • Team Great Britain including player Winston Gordon – British National Champion (2012)• Team Romania including player Adrian Croitoru – World Championships Bronze Medal (1999)Due to the raising value as international tournament, The New York Open changed its format to a team competition in 2011, accepting official national representatives from leading countries as the USA, Russia, Germany, France and Japan to name a few.
