Architecture & Planning - Newcastle upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom
Newcastle University Architecture Society is the student-run representation body within the Newcastle School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape. We represent just under 600 students and work to provide opportunities that enhance our members' education through our program of workshops, talks and industry support. In 2016 we were awarded with the title of Best Departmental Society and nominated for 2 further awards, all reflecting the high quality of work we carry out.Throughout the year NUAS delivers a rich calendar of academic events ranging from material workshops, industry panel talks, walk-in surgeries to our annual summer Newcastle and London degree shows. We work closely with practitioners and staff to provide opportunities for students to grow and question the industry. Our officers also work to represent students' needs within the school. We help ensure everyone's voice is heard and help bring about changes to school that greater support everyone.A larger part of our work is providing an outlet for our members to get away from the studio and the pressures of their studies. We run regular socials for all our members as well as our monthly film nights, annual field trip and our open exhibition nights. NUAS plays a huge role in the experience of many of our students at Newcastle and helps ensure everyone enjoys their time here in the school.
