Nexergy was a startup with a mission to enable thriving communities with clean accessible energy.The company developed a local energy trading platform designed to allow people with distributed energy resources (DER)—such as solar and batteries—to trade their energy with others in their community.The platform provided a customer-centric way of optimising the energy flows between distributed generation, storage devices, automated home appliances and the electricity network, reducing costs whilst strengthening network resilience, providing benefits to both customers and industry alike.Nexergy was formed from the Energy XO program run through Sydney-based incubator, Pollenizer with support from Horizon Power in 2016. In 2019, after recruiting more than 40 retail customers and developing a beta version of the platform, the founders decided to pursue their mission through other ventures.
