The National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) was established in 1968 under the purview of the Ministry of Industries and Scientific Affairs in collaboration with the UNDP. Since its establishment, the NIBM has aimed at achieving excellence in the training programmes that it offers to its clients who are drawn from the public and private sectors of Sri Lanka.The Management Information Systems (MIS) division of NIBM offers many IT related Certificate courses, Diplomas, Higher Diploma programs and Degrees. The BSc (Hon) Information Technology for Business (ITB) is aimed at applicants who wish to advance their skills in computing for business enhancement. Upon successful completion of the programme, students gain employment as Software Engineers, Enterprise Architects, Consultants, Business Intelligence Consultants, Business Analysts, Business Intelligence Consultants or even Web Designers and developers.
