Nico Bick Details
Nico Bick (Arnhem 1964) studied photography at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (1986-1991). Characteristic of his work is a preference for places that appear to be unremarkable or inconspicuous, places that seem to be so familiar that nobody seems to notice them anymore. His viewpoint is specifically directed at those spaces in which a tension between the public and the private domain exists. With the inquiry of space being his main objective, he creates carefully registered and highly detailed images which erase the anonymity of that location. His work exists always in series of photographs which are part of a particular project. Each individual image within these series becomes powerful because it is part of a larger concept. Nico Bick lives and works in Amsterdam.
