The Nicolet Federated Library System (NFLS) is a state-funded organization assisting 42 member public libraries in providing better services to the people of northeastern Wisconsin since 1976.NFLS is one of 16 public library systems in the state of Wisconsin and is organized under the WI Dept. of Public Instruction. Each system is governed by an independent board of trustees and funded by state aids to carry out the service requirements set forth in Chapter 43 of the Wisconsin Statutes.NFLS' 42 members are the public libraries of 8 Northeast Wisconsin counties: Brown, Door, Florence, Kewaunee, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto and Shawano.The NFLS members consist of 42 public library locations made up of 15 independent main libraries with 27 branches among them. There is a total of 45 service points when counting the Brown Co. Library Bookmobile, the library station at the Aurora Financial Center in Aurora for the Florence Co. Library, and the Bay Lakes Bank in Luxemburg for the Algoma Public Library.Mission Statement: NFLS provides member libraries cost effective and efficient access to resources, support, and expertise, resulting in vibrant community resources that better serve their patrons.
