Nimbus Surfing Club is founded in 1993 as a no-profit sport association by the initiative of a group of surfers and sea lovers in the area of Marina di Pietrasanta, in Versilia. In 1994, the association signs a contract with the Mayor of Pietrasanta to take care of the strand, the "Ex Summer Camp Laveno," aiming to create the first Italian Surfing Club, recognized by ASI (the Association of Italian Surfers, today FISURF).Since 1994, Nimbus organized events linked to Surf: among the most important, the Oxbow European Tour, brought to Italy by Alessandro Dini, see the participation of champions like Joel Tudor, Nat Young, Duane De Soto. The various editions of the Vogue Cup and the first editions of the O'Neill Surf Academy in 1999 and 2000 saw the participation of more than 400 kids supervised by qualified teachers and champions like Robert "Wignut" Weaver and Jay Moriarty. Numerous, too, the Surf Festivals and Contests organized and hosted by Nimbus, such as the European Fish Fry, event born in California for alternative surfboards, brought in Italy in 2010 by Single Fin, the homonymous vintage surf festival. Furthermore, Nimbus organized stages of the Italian longboard Championship and the Surfers Day, an open day for everyone willing to be introduced to our activities.A single chapter should be reserved for the participation of a delegation of Nimbus athletes to the Msa Classic Invitational, the most important and oldest surfing competition for clubs in the world, which takes place in Malibu, California. A historical result for Nimbus was the 16th place in the general ranking for Alessandro Ponzanelli, together with the 8th place in the Open of Noseriding and the 5th place in his category at the end of the Msa Classic Invitational.
