NIRA Community Development Foundation was established in 2004 as Network for Integrated Rural Advancement (NIRA). It started as a Social Research Group that was mainly concerned with the Socio-economic situation of the rural Communities. The essence was to generate and develop baseline data and information that could be used by Governments and Development partners for planning to accelerate rural transformation process.However, after series of constructive engagement with community members through Rural Rapid Appraisal (RRA) and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), the Organization realized that there was the need for holistic approach to community development. This exigency called for redirection of focus which also compelled the Founding Members to change the name of the Organization to NIRA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION which was later registered with the corporate Affairs Commission in 2009 as Incorporated Trustees via certificate No.CAC/IT/NO.31770.NIRA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION is a non-profit, non-political civil society organization. Its overall goal is to contribute to the sustainable advancement of human society through participatory development approach.
