The mission of the National Kitchen & Bath Association is to enhance member success and excellence by promoting professionalism and ethical business practices, and providing leadership and direction for the kitchen and bathroom industry.The National Kitchen & Bath Association - formerly The American Institute of Kitchen Dealers (AIKD) - was founded in 1963 to fulfill a need for an association that could educate and support a new and exciting industry. The AIKD's focus was the kitchen and bathroom dealer. In 1983, the name of the Association was changed to emphasize its broadened focus as a representative of the entire industry. With more than 36,000 members in 50 states and seven Canadian provinces, the NKBA promotes the interests of all facets of the kitchen and bath industry.Over the past 40 years, the NKBA has pioneered industry research, business management tools and set standards for design to conform with everyday living. NKBA provides a unique, one-stop resource for professional reference materials, seminars and workshops, distance learning opportunities, marketing assistance, design competitions, consumer referrals, job and internship opportunities and opportunities for volunteer leadership activities.The NKBA is the proud owner of the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show & Conference (K/BIS), the world's largest trade event dedicated to the kitchen and bath industry.The NKBA offers membership in Industry, Associate, Student and Honorary categories and, for Industry members, membership in one of eleven industry segments.
