We are one church made up of two communities - one located in Langley and the other in Strathcona, BC. NLV Community (which originally started out as the North Langley Vineyard because of its location) began formally in January, 1996 with Joy and Gary Best. Our mission for the last 12 years has remained the same: "to be a community living out the words and works of Jesus." Our communities are united by this shared mission and four values: justice, worship, discipleship and community. Here's something of the story of the two communities NLV Eighty Eight and Strathcona. Therefore every church community has a character or personality. Our NLV Community personality would best be described with words like: Relational Informal Authentic CollaborativeOur shared practices include:Meeting weekly or bi-weekly as congregations to worship, pray and eat together in the presence of Jesus, telling the foundational biblical story and learning how to live that story out and for mutual support and sharingGathering in small groups or 'house' groups to share our livesGathering for prayer and other spiritual practicesWorking on behalf of the poor, including serving and building relationships with poor and marginalized people Creativity, including but not limited to, songwriting, visual arts, creative writing and performing artsIntentional gatherings outside of Sunday meetings to pursue mentoring and discipleshipExtending hospitality to one another Youth and children's groups
