Government Administration - North Miami Beach, Florida, United States
NMB Water was established over 72 years ago back in 1950. We currently provide reliable, high-quality water to more than 175,000 customers while protecting and preserving the environment for future generations. The regional utility currently serves customers in northern Miami-Dade County including North Miami Beach, Miami Gardens, Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, Golden Beach, and portions of unincorporated Miami-Dade County. Owned by the City of North Miami Beach, NMB Water is counseled by a 7-member Public Utilities Commission, which acts as an advisory committee to the Mayor and Commission regarding decisions on water utility rates, expansions, and expenditures. Our water begins its journey from groundwater sources, specifically, the Biscayne and Floridan aquifers. Production wells pump water from these aquifers to the Norwood Water Treatment Plant, located in the City of Miami Gardens. This facility is staffed and operates 24-hours per day/365 days per year. There the water is processed through one or more of the following treatment processes: lime softening, nanofiltration, and reverse osmosis. The water is then blended, chlorinated for disinfection, fluoridated for dental-health purposes, and then distributed through our infrastructure to customers.
