The National Organization of Minority Architecture Students is a group that is aligned with the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA). The group welcomes all who want to help fight the social dilemmas that face our nation, particularly as they affect the architecture profession. NOMAS-UMinn members give voice to the un-empowered, marginalized and disenfranchised, and you can find out more about NOMA's mission on their website: noma.net . Additionally, our chapter at the University of Minnesota has goals that pertain to issues in the greater Twin Cities area, and has been broken down into four subject areas of focus: Advocacy- Igniting conversations on inequality in the context of architectureEducation- Making ourselves more aware of inequalities, critical discourse analysis, and providing resources and a place for students to educate themselves on the related topicsCommunity- Making a safe space/support system for students, intellectually and emotionally.Opportunity- Create opportunities for NOMAS members to be involved in the professional and Twin Cities community.
