nomos came about from the realisation that time and time again we would find ourselves being asked by friends, friends of friends, relatives, strangers on trains "oh, you're a lawyer – can you help me with —"Every day people are faced with legal issues and, yes, there are some resources out there for the individual (Citizen's Advice, Shelter and so on) but we didn't see anywhere were the small business – a self-employed accountant, a freelance designer, a mechanic and so on – could access affordable, suitable, legal help for their business needs.Because, with high street solicitors, when you've got a £5,000.00 contract to sign, can you really justify £500.00 or more for their advice?And so nomos was born. We wanted to design an accessible system that was online, flexible, fast and – most importantly – affordable.By cutting out the overheads of solicitors firms we don't need to charge huge hourly rates, and by keeping it online we can work from wherever we are in the world (normally nowhere exciting, unfortunately!)We're not here to advise on long-term strategy, mergers, and all that large-scale business stuff – we're here for when you get that contract, that agreement, that last-minute deal to sign, or when you need to get something in place for yourself, and when you think about it you kinda wish you could get a bit of input, but it simply isn't worth the cost of instructing a solicitor.
