Nordstrom Robotics designs and manufactures low cost, durable, full size humanoid robots for civilian, police and military markets. While industrial robots will always be the backbone of mass manufacturing, we see full size humanoid robots as the next step in the automation evolutionary process. By mimicking the human form humanoid robots can do human task, using human tools in environments designed for humans.The current trend is to build purpose built robots like the Roomba vacuum robot. Purpose built robots by definition provide limited functionality. When we think about a domestic robot we want one that can clean (vacuum, wash the floor, dust, etc) cook, mow the lawn, do house repairs and walk the dog.Humanoid robots are only limited by their programming, programming that can be downloaded and updated. A humanoid originally purchased for domestic duties could be used as a driver, a personal assistant (shopping, scheduling meetings, etc) or a body guard. The possibilities are as endless as it's human counter parts.
