The USDA-NIFA Food Virology Collaborative, better known as NoroCORE (Norovirus Collaborative for Outreach, Research, and Education), is a food safety collaborative that focuses on outreach, research, and education in the field of food virology. NoroCORE's ultimate goal is to reduce the burden of food borne disease associated with viruses. We are a large, multi-disciplinary team of researchers, with numerous stakeholders from industry, academia, and the government. We are working in an integrated manner to develop improved tools, skills, and capacity to understand and control food borne virus risks. NoroCORE is not just about research- it includes extensive outreach and education components. Our efforts fall into six core objectives: Molecular Virology, Detection, Epidemiology & Risk Analysis, Prevention & Control, Extension & Outreach, and Capacity Building.
