Scientific Research - Shillong, Meghalaya, IN
I have been associated with the Department of Biochemistry, NEHU for nearly two and a half decades with strong research interests in the molecular biology of carcinogenesis and molecular mechanisms of low and high LET radiation damage to DNA and its repair. The current main focus of research includes, exploring the role of poly-ADP-ribosylation of chromosomal proteins & its suitability for a population based screening tool for cancer (patented technology), association of tumour suppressor genes and their cross-talks in carcinogenesis induced by betel nut and identification of early response genes (ERG) and early response proteins (ERP) following medically relevant doses of radiations to find ‘candidate' ERG/ERP for bio-dosimetry.
