The North Florida Land Trust works to cultivate a legacy for our children through the protection of natural and cultural resources in North Florida. Over 3500 acres of special places have been conserved by concerned citizens and corporate sponsors that value our region's natural beauty, clean water and air, healthy ecosystem and quality of life. The North Florida Land Trust: • Is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a volunteer board of directors • Works primarily in seven counties: Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam, and St. Johns • Partners with landowners, local government and environmental organizations to achieve its mission • Is a member of the national Land Trust Alliance North Florida Land Trust protects land by: • Identifying priority conservation lands with GIS-based criterion • Purchasing properties, particularly: environmentally sensitive ecosystems, unique habitats and wildlife corridors; river, creek, spring and marsh properties critical to the watershed; buffers for or future additions to city/county/federal parks or preservation areas; historically or culturally relevant places • Creating conservation easements (permanent deed restrictions) to limit development • Facilitating planning and consultation for buyers and sellers dedicated to preservation • Enlisting volunteer efforts by concerned citizens and supporting clean-ups • Developing programs for restoration, education, conservation and planning • Providing stewardship and monitoring • Accepting donations of cash, stock, endowments
