The North Saskatchewan Regiment (N Sask R) is a Primary Reserve infantry regiment of the Canadian Forces, headquartered in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, with companies in Saskatoon and Prince Albert. Its current commanding officer is Lieutenant-Colonel Dan Whittaker, who took over from Lieutenant-Colonel Malcolm Young. The N Sask R is part of Land Force Western Area's 38 Canadian Brigade Group. The North Saskatchewan Regiment gets its history from the militia units which were based in Prince Albert, Battleford, Saskatoon and Yorkton. Since the first militia unit was formed in 1879 the soldiers from Northern Saskatchewan have earned 45 battle honours.
