Welcome to the Northeast Association of Equine Practitioners! Our organization has been developed to provide direct benefits to equine practitioners throughout the northeastern United States. We recognize that the needs of equine practitioners are quite unique in the veterinary community. Because the majority of many states' VMA membership is comprised of small animal practitioners, these topics naturally become the focus for their conferences. Additionally, we have observed significant variation in the practice of equine veterinary medicine on a regional basis. This often makes national equine-oriented meetings helpful, but leaving practitioners looking for something slightly more specific to their area. The NEAEP has been developed to give the equine practitioner a voice at the state and regional level. Where state-level equine associations already exist, we are working to complement and support those established groups. The local and regional scale of the NEAEP will allow exploration of legislative and medical issues unique to each state's needs within the support of a larger regional framework. Publication of our magazine – The Clinician – allows us to disseminate information to equine practitioners, specific to each state and applicable to the northeastern United States. We hope that you will also find this publication provides you with additional options for networking, new information sources, and enhanced continuing education seminars.
