Waste/Recycling/Environmental - Fort St. John, BC, CA
NEAT is a non-profit group dedicated to helping residents, schools, and businesses live a greener life in British Columbia. Founded in 1989, we have been working in BC's Peace for more than 25 years. As part of our core programming, NEAT works with a variety of community partners to deliver education programming throughout northern BC. We designed and deliver Energy for Kids, Pacific Northern Gas's energy conservation program in six school districts. NEAT also designed and delivers Food Secure Kids presented by Pembina Pipeline Corporation. This K-6 food security program involves more than 2,000 students, 70+ garden beds, and thousands of tomatoes annually. Since 2011, we have had more than 10,000 students participate in NEAT programming.NEAT opened NEAT Finds, a local thrift store in 2017, and is excited about the opportunities this new social enterprise presents. We believe, reuse is one of the most important steps in the waste reduction heirarchy and NEAT Finds provides us with endless inspiration to see just how far we can go. NEAT was the voice of pRRRdy Says, the Peace River Regional District's solid waste education and outreach program for 20 years. Over this time we worked on practical community based strategies to reduce landfilled waste through composting, recycling, reusable bag programs, and construction and demolition research.NEAT is the only local environmental education non-profit in northeastern BC. Join us as we promote environmental stewardship by making a donation that supports our work.
