The Northern Illinois University Supermileage Team is an engineering design team created by students that focuses on designing, manufacturing, and implementing vehicles that achieve the highest energy-efficiency possible. Started in 2009, we have proven time and again that our ultra-efficient vehicles are among the best in their respective classes as well as extremely reliable.This proven track record may be seen with the team's ability to place in the top 3 spots at the SAE Supermileage competition for over 8 consecutive years with a fuel economy record of 1888 MPG. In 2019, the team took home 1st place from the Shell Eco-Marathon Americas competition, competing with 30 teams from 8 countries. During the coronavirus pandemic, the team consecutively placed 3rd at SAE Supermileage in 2020 and 2021.
