Northwood Schools is a family of independent schools offering children an excellent educational foundation from ages 4-16.For most children, the journey begins at the age of 4 in our co-educational pre-prep school, Broomwood Hall Lower School. At the age of 8, children automatically progress to one of our two single-sex prep schools: Broomwood Hall Upper School (girls) or Northcote Lodge (boys), where they will be joined by children coming from other schools. At the age of 13 – or some at 11 – they depart for their senior schools – either day or boarding. For some, that may include Northwood Senior, our newly opened co-ed secondary school for ages 11-16.Teachers and administration staff alike all remark on the unusually strong family ethos and sense of camaraderie they experience in their daily lives. As a result, staff often remark that working for Northwood schools is rewarding and fun.For academic staff, there are many opportunities to participate in school trips and excursions - including the annual skiing trip - and to help run clubs and extra-curricular activities. Staff development is taken seriously and their energy and ambition transmits itself to the children they teach. Benefits include a salary scale which is well above the maintained sector and a generous teachers' pension scheme. We take pride in the high calibre of our staff and knowing that many go on to run departments and even schools when they leave. All staff benefit from on-going training, staff sports teams, subsidised school fees for those who live within our catchment area, discounts in some local shops, free school lunches during term-time, subsidised private health care and an annual staff lunch and Christmas party. Our children are happy and so are our parents. We couldn't achieve this without excellent, motivated staff who enjoy what they do.
