Nsibidi Institute is an independent research organisation uniquely positioned to build local research capacity, promote learning and effect critical engagement on societal issues in Nigeria.The Institute was founded to address strained access to historical and knowledge resources, further providing linkages on issues relevant to contemporary conditions and the long-term improvement of Nigerian society. Our overarching purpose is to build a repository of knowledge linking multiple research areas and advancing open dialogue on Nigerian history, identity, production and current affairs.We work to foster a better understanding of Nigeria – its history, people, knowledge systems and possible futures. Our closely work with scholars, journalists and researchers, ranges from supporting their activities in various capacities, to the promotion of research as a viable profession at the institutional level. We also partner with active and aspiring agents in media and creative industries, supporting them via skills-development and forging synergies for value and diversity in production. By finding practical means to endorse their easily accessible and expressive formats, we support effective means to activate cultural exchanges and public learning in Nigeria.
