Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is essentially a fancy phrase that pares down to the act of using magnets to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to improve symptoms of depression. This therapy is a completely non-invasive procedure that takes place in an outpatient setting 5 times per week for 8-10 weeks. Each appointment lasts about 20 minutes and consists of relaxing in a chair with a helmet placed upon your head. Patients are free to read, listen to music, or play games on their phone. Dr. David Kent founded NuMe TMS Clinics after becoming increasingly impressed with how well his patients were responding to TMS therapy. He enjoyed seeing the high success rates while being able to circumvent unpleasant side effects that psychotropics are known to produce.
