NKA consist of two main departments: The Museum and The Archive, who each work within their legal duties. NKA works though registration, collection, conservation, research and dissemination towards: • securing Greenlandic cultural heritage • illuminating the Greenlandic cultural- and natural history • making the collections available to the public • making the collections available for study and research and publicize the research results • ensuring the preservation of archival material that has historical value or material which has significant management or legal importance for the public or authorities • ensuring the possibility of discarding material which holds no historical significance • ensuring public access to archival material.
