Nurture Restore Innovate (NRI) is an initiative established by Dr Peter Carrick with a mission to integrate ecological research, business entrepreneurship, and socio-economic needs through ecological restoration for the long-term sustainable benefit of local communities and the natural environment.The NRI aims to work in partnerships with other organizations in order to innovate and implement projects that sustainably benefit both biodiversity and human livelihoods. Restoration systems are based on proven techniques, a deep understanding of the ecology of the region and innovative on-site research. To date, the pioneering restoration techniques of the NRI have restored more than 500 hectares, increased skills of 120 people, and created 15-30 permanent restoration jobs in new locally-owned businesses.
