Nusantara Capital and its subsidiary Nusantara Partners is one of the first internationally recognized search fund in Southeast Asia, with a focus on Indonesia. Our sole objective is to identify, acquire and scale a single investment opportunity within this large and growing market and create value for our shareholders and the societies within which we are embedded. We firmly believe in and clearly see a role for private investors to achieve deep impact in emerging markets. Conceived in 1984, the search fund was designed as a vehicle to stage financing for the identification, acquisition and management of a privately held company or a portfolio of assets around which a seasoned operating team would be assembled. The model aims to address "the missing middle," that financing gap where investment opportunities are too small for established private equity and less disruption-driven or growing at a rate slower than what would attract venture capital. The Managing Partners at Nusantara Capital seek to work with others who share our vision and wish to see different models of private-led development in Indonesia. Realizing the promise of the world's eighth largest market by GDP (on a PPP basis), particularly from the vantage point of an anchor for the regional economy, calls for more hands-on investment approaches.
